Dear St. Michael’s Families,
It is with great joy that I write to you to introduce myself as the new principal of St. Michael the Archangel Regional School for the upcoming school year. My name is Matt Tornese, although for all my teaching career students and parents alike have referred to me as “Mr. T.”
A New Jerseyan through and through, I have lived in one corner of the state or another my entire life. I grew up outside Atlantic City, spending my summers going to Brigantine and Ocean City. For college, I attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick, earning a B.A. in History and a Master’s Degree in Social Studies Education. In 2011, I began my career as a Catholic school teacher at Holy Angels Catholic School (then Holy Trinity) in Woodbury, where I taught middle school Social Studies and Science and where I remained for thirteen years until assuming this position. In 2023, I received an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Notre Dame. My wife, Elizabeth, children Joey, Katie, and Grace, and I currently live in Mantua and attend Incarnation Church.
I am excited to enter this journey with you as we work together during these formative years to develop your children into Christ-centered young people who are prepared for high school and beyond. Even though I have just begun, it is already obvious that St. Michael’s has a talented, loving faculty and a supportive pastor in Father Goyette, all of whom work tirelessly to ensure our success in this endeavor. I look forward to serving you and the faculty and staff of St. Michael’s in helping to form our children into the “best versions” of themselves.
Yours In Christ,
Matt Tornese, Principal
